As the 3rd pick in the 1982 NBA Draft, Dominique Wilkins went on to become one of the most electrifying players in league history. Known universally as “The Human Highlight Film,” Wilkins built a legacy on his explosive scoring, gravity‑defying athleticism, and unforgettable in‑game dunks. By the time he retired, he ranked among the NBA’s all‑time leading scorers and remained one of the most celebrated forwards of his era.

Dominique played the majority of his career with the Atlanta Hawks (1982–1994), where he became the face of the franchise. He also suited up for the Los Angeles Clippers (1994), Boston Celtics (1994–1995), Panathinaikos in Greece (1995–1996), Fortitudo Bologna in Italy (1996–1997), San Antonio Spurs (1996–1997), and the Orlando Magic (1999). His international stints added to his global popularity and cemented him as one of basketball’s most recognisable stars.

After retiring as a player, Wilkins remained deeply connected to the sport and the Hawks organisation, serving in roles including Vice President of Basketball Operations and team ambassador. His influence continues to shape the franchise and inspire new generations of players.

Dominique Wilkins was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. The Atlanta Hawks retired his iconic #21 jersey in 2001, honouring his status as one of the greatest players in franchise history.
