New Zealand’s tenth Formula 1 driver, Liam Lawson, has had one of the most turbulent yet compelling rises in recent F1 memory. After impressing as a reserve driver and stepping in for an injured Daniel Ricciardo in 2023, Lawson earned the seat many dream of to partner Max Verstappen at Oracle Red Bull Racing for 2025. That stint (in the ‘cursed’ second Red Bull seat) lasted just two races before he was controversially dropped back to Racing Bulls. Ironically, Liam finished the season with more points than his replacement at Oracle Red Bull Racing.

Now the senior driver at Racing Bulls, Lawson has made a strong start to the 2026 season, scoring points at every round so far.
