Metta World Peace Signed 12″x 12″ Floor Piece.
Known as Ron Artest before legally changing his name to Metta World Peace in 2011 and later to Metta Sandiford-Artest in May 2020.
He played for six teams in the NBA and gained a reputation as one of the league’s premier defenders. winning NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2004, when he was also named an NBA All-Star and earned All-NBA honours. He won an NBA championship in 2010 as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Sandiford-Artest was a participant in several controversial on-court incidents, most notably the Malice at the Palace, and is known for his sometimes eccentric and outspoken behaviour. He was disciplined by the NBA and arrested multiple times and still maintains the unwanted record for the he longest suspension (86 games – 73 regular season games plus 13 playoff games) for an on-court incident in NBA history for his role in the ‘Malice at the Palace on November 19, 2004 while playing for the Indiana Pacers.
Ron Artest/Metta World Peace played for the Chicago Bulls (1999–2002),Indiana Pacers (2002–2006), Sacramento Kings (2006–2008), Houston Rockets (2008–2009), Los Angeles Lakers (2009–2013), New York Knicks (2013–2014) & again for the Los Angeles Lakers (2015–2017).
